Imagine growing up amidst the 'teenage rebellion' of the 1950s: scattered everywhere are images, films, and music promoting sex, drugs, and Rock N' Roll. Was youth sexuality of the 1950s really that different from today? Despite the fact that many people assume that the 1950s was a time of purity and innocence, it was, in reality, just as blatantly sexual as the youth generation of today. Economist Andrew Francis even stated, "the 1950s were not at prudish as they seemed on the surface."In other words, although the sexual displays in the media were presented in a more conservative manner in the 1950s, the youth of the time period were just as sexually driven as the youth are today. Ultimately, the same underlying constant remains: sex in the media corrupts the virtuous façade of the youth. Through film, television, music, and print ads, sexuality heavily influenced the youth of both generations.
